Best Seafood Restaurants in Barcelona

Barcelona's position on the Mediterranean coast and its status as the capital of Catalonia — a region with extraordinary culinary traditions — make it one of Europe's finest cities for seafood. The Barceloneta neighbourhood, the city's traditional fishing district, remains the epicentre of Barcelona's seafood culture, with a dense concentration of restaurants specialising in paella, fideuà (noodle paella), fresh grilled fish, and the spectacular seafood towers that are a city signature.

La Boqueria market on La Rambla offers some of Europe's most magnificent displays of fresh seafood, and the city's top-tier restaurants — including several with multiple Michelin stars — treat Catalan seafood with the reverence it deserves. The suquet de peix (Catalan fish stew) and esqueixada de bacallà (salt cod salad) are essential local seafood dishes.
