Targeted Work at Specific Venues
The La Foixarda municipal rugby ground is undergoing a nearly €1 million renovation between June and August 2026 to expand the field and replace turf with an organic-filling surface compliant with microplastic restrictions. Rugby clubs using the ground can therefore continue matches and community training camps through the summer period. The remodeled L'Illa Municipal Multi-Purpose Sports Hall in Les Corts recently reopened with doubled capacity of 4,300 m², accommodating up to 1,100 weekday users and adhering to energy efficiency criteria like solar panels. Clubs operating there now run more simultaneous classes and evening events that bring families from surrounding streets into regular contact.
Additional Sites Under Development
Work on two new municipal sports centers in Sant Andreu at Sagrera and Espronceda began earlier with a €27 million investment and a planned opening in the last quarter of 2025. These centers will give clubs in that district permanent bases for team practices and local tournaments. FC Barcelona's Camp Nou officially reopened in November 2025 with 45,000 seats and increased to approximately 62,000 in 2026, with the full 105,000-seat capacity expected in the 2026-27 season. The phased reopening provides a visible city-wide reference point that encourages smaller clubs to pursue their own facility improvements.
